National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme

A centrally sponsored scheme launched in May 2008 to encourage meritorious students from economically weaker sections to continue their education at the secondary and higher secondary level. Around 1,00,000 scholarships are awarded annually to Class 8 students studying in government, government-aided, or local body schools, providing ₹12,000 per year from Class 9 to 12.
